The story of Hernie, the frequently recurring creature, and the magic mender

Once upon a time, there was a small, cheerful creature named Hernie. Hernie was a small, soft “lump” who lived in Bellyland. Hernie was actually very sweet, but he had a problem: he was terribly curious! One day, he discovered a tiny gap in the “belly wall”—which is like a soft protective fence that keeps everything in the belly in place. Hernie couldn’t resist and stuck his nose through the gap. “Yikes!” said Hernie when he suddenly tumbled out a little bit. Now he was a small bump on the belly that sometimes twinged when he jumped too wildly.
